Reflection

Reflections is a body of work that explores the reflections of water waves intersecting with light waves using a camera with a full spectrum sensor that records a combination of visible light waves and near infrared light waves. The human eye cannot detect near infrared light waves and often there is a moment of serendipity while editing the images. Many metaphors, comparisons and stories can be made when working with reflections and each image captured is a brief moment in time. These moments are unique and never duplicated as the light radiates through the deep darkness of water and at the same time reflecting off of the water’s surface revealing transitions from ripples to waves. The inky black water abstracts the scene and can act as a mirror revealing details and vignettes that tell a story about the place and illustrate the emotional experience of being there.
